Seasonal Assistant Biologist

Job title: Seasonal assistant biologist Salary: £23,400 per annum pro-rata

Period of employment: 12 weeks, starting mid-June 2025 (or to be agreed with the candidate)

Working hours: Full time, 37.5 hrs/week. Usual working hours 8:30am – 4.30pm, however some evening and weekend work may be required.

Location: Role will be based at the Trust office in Drymen with fieldwork taking place across the Loch Lomond catchment.

Main duties

  • To assist the LLFT Biologists with all field-based projects, including annual fish population monitoring (electrofishing surveys), invertebrate sampling, invasive species control and habitat restoration projects.
  • To assist with data entry and compilation when needed.

 

Person specification

Essential

  • Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Good level of physical fitness, being able to walk over rough terrain and in water, while carrying equipment
  • An interest in fisheries, freshwater ecology and conservation
  • Excellent time management skills

Desirable

  • Honours degree in Ecology or relevant environmental field
  • Driving licence
  • Experience with fish handling
  • GIS experience
